Christopher Karl Baumgarten-Arias graduated from The University of Texas at Austin on May 19, 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology.
Chris has extensive experience working in the medical community and professional workplace. Presently, Chris seeks a full time sales position that will provide hands on experience and insight to the pharmaceutical industry or surgical equipment industry. |
Relevent Experience
Beginning in January 2001, Chris applied to the
Willowbrook Medical Center located in Houston, Texas as a Medical and Office Assistant. He admitted patients to the office, documents medical history and took patient vital signs. In addition, he administered injections to patients and withdrew blood samples for testing, balanced the books at the close of business each date, and was a Spanish language translator for Spanish speaking patients. Chris was accepted at The University of Texas at Austin in May 2002 and resigned as Medical and Office Assistant.
In the Summer of 2003, Chris was accepted to the Honors Premedical Academy at Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine. He participated in a surgical preceptorship with Rafael Espada, M.D., a cardiothoracic surgeon at the Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. His responsibilities included scrubbing in and assisting in surgical procedures. Chris also observed and learned protocols and procedures when preparing for patient's surgery. He was able to shadow Dr. Espada during rounds to study patient/physician interaction. Throughout the six week program, Chris was enrolled in Gross Human Anatomy at Baylor College of Medicine.
Between August 2004 and January 2007, Chris worked at
ProSource Packaging, Inc. in Houston, Texas. He performed numerous duties including:
Sales Representative,
Technical Services, and
Website Developer.
Among Chris's responsibilities involved:
- Participating in some Accounting Functions with Quickbooks software
- Provided telephone customer assistance and product support
- Performed preventive maintenance and on site support for installed equipment
- Maintained and upgraded company website using HTML and other software
- Sold high security and other office equipment to the Federal Government and the private sector via telephone
- Participated in Sales and Technical Training for MBM Corporation, Duplo, and Olympia office equipment
- Worked part time and full time during semester breaks
Immediately upon graduation from UT-Austin, Chris returned to the family owned business with the same job responsibilities as described above.
In January 2006, Chris was accepted to the
Andrew Ellington, Ph.D Research Laboratory at UT-Austin where he began individual research project as detailed below:
- Performed gel electrophoresis and amplify DNA using Polymerase Chain Reaction
- Skilled in DNA purification techniques
- Used general molecular biology techniques and tissue culture
- Research project is in process and will be completed post graduate
